Spotify announced on Monday that Apple had approved a new application update, allowing iPhone users in the United States to buy individual audio books directly in the application. Users can also display audio book prices and easily buy additional hours of listening beyond 15 initial hours.
“This change reduces obstacles to more users to adopt their first or tenth – audio book, while allowing publishers and authors to reach fans and access new audiences in a transparent way,” wrote the company in the ad.
This long -awaited update follows a recent American court decision which ordered Apple to stop invoicing costs on purchases made outside the App Store.
The possibility of buying audio books directly in the iOS application and seeing prices will be a great improvement for users who had to buy audio books on the web before they can access it in the application. Spotify deleted purchases of audio books in 2022 due to the strict Apple rules around integrated purchases. Users can now buy an audio book with only a few taps.
In addition, iPhone users had to visit the web before to buy more hours of listening, called “refills”. With the update, they can now make these purchases directly in the application. Each recharge costs $ 13 for 10 overtime.
Earlier this month, Spotify began to allow iPhone users to buy subscriptions outside the App Store, while Apple has approved an update allowing access to external prices and payment links.
