The latest college basketball rankings are here as the 2024-25 AP Poll Top 25 was updated after Week 11 of the season.
There were some upsets, so naturally there were some upsets in the rankings. The top 10 has definitely had a makeover.
With that, let’s dive into the AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 11 of the season.
Auburn picked up a win over Georgia on the road Saturday, 70-68. But still, a win is a win for Bruce Pearl and company.
The Tigers did it without Johni Broome as Tahaad Pettiford led the way with 24 points, three rebounds and two assists. Miles Kelly and Chad Baker-Mazara each scored 13 points.
Duke dominated Boston College on the road Saturday, 88-63, to improve to 16-2 on the season. Jon Scheyer’s team has been firing on all cylinders lately.
The Blue Devils will be heavy favorites until a classic rivalry against North Carolina on the 1st, then a ranked matchup with Illinois on February 22. Duke is back in action next Saturday at Wake Forest.
Iowa State beat Kansas but fell to West Virginia this week. The Mountaineers stunned the visiting Cyclones 64-57 on Saturday.
Curtis Jones led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds, but it wasn’t enough. WVU outscored Iowa State 39-33 in the final 20 minutes of the game.
What about the crimson tide? Even Nate Oats compared his team to the Nick Saban-led Alabama football teams for their reaction.
Grant Nelson led Alabama with 25 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. Mark Sears added 24 points, one rebound and nine assists in the win. Alabama is now 15-3 on the season.
Florida suffered its second loss of the season, 83-82 to Missouri, on Tuesday, but bounced back with a dominant 84-60 victory over Texas on Saturday. It’s safe to say the Gators got the message after a 2-2 streak.
Alijah Martin had 22 points, six rebounds and four assists in the victory. Walter Clayton Jr. added 19 points, four rebounds and three assists while Alex Condon had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Tennessee suffered a stunning loss to Vanderbilt on the road, 76-75. After trailing by six points at halftime, the Vols couldn’t pull away in the end as Chaz Lanier missed a game-tying free throw and Tennessee couldn’t get a rebound for a final shot.
Lanier was the top scorer with 17 points and two rebounds. Igor Milicic, Felix Okpara and Zakai Zeigler all scored 16 points but Tennessee lost its second game of the season.
Houston narrowly avoided an upset Saturday with a 69-68 win over UCF on the road. That now makes 10 straight wins for the Cougars as they are 14-3 this season.
J’wan Roberts led the way with 21 points, nine rebounds and an assist. Ja’Vier Francis added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Michigan State edged ranked Big Ten foe Illinois 80-78 to improve to 16-2 on the season as the two battle for the conference lead. After a draw at halftime, the Spartans were ultimately better by a bucket.
Tre Holloman finished the game with 17 points, two rebounds and two assists. Coen Carr and Frankie Fidler each added 11 points each.
Kentucky ended the weekend with a tough home loss to Alabama, 102-97. So it was certainly not a lack of scoring.
The Wildcats are still 14-4 this season, but have ranked opponents coming up in the SEC. They will try to rebound against Vanderbilt, who just upset Tennessee this weekend.
Marquette remained in the top 10 despite a 59-57 loss to Xavier on Saturday. The Golden Eagles were given the benefit of the doubt amid the upset.
They will travel to Seton Hall on Tuesday night, then host Villanova on Friday night. There are plenty of opportunities to get back on track for Shaka Smart’s crew.
