Anthropic began to deploy a “vocal mode” for its Claude Chatbot applications.
The vocal mode (in beta version for the moment) allows users of Mobile Applications of Claude to have “complete spoken conversations with Claude” and will arrive in English in the coming weeks, according to Anthropic Official account on x And Update documentation on the company’s website.

“Vocal fashion … allows you to speak to Claude and hear the answers by voice, which facilitates the use of Claude when your hands are busy, but your mind is not”, reads a assistance page. “The vocal mode transforms the way you interact with Claude by … displaying key points on the screen while Claude speaks (and) allowing you to speak to Claude and hear Claude’s vocal responses.”
A number of AI companies, including Openai, offer vocal chat experiences for their respective chatbots. Google, for example, has Live GeminiWhile Xai has vocal mode for Grok. Each allows users to interact with the bots by speaking instead of typing, making the conversations more natural and intuitive.
With the anthropic flavor of vocal mode, users can discuss things like documents and images, and choose from five distinct vocal options. Users can also switch between text and voice on the fly and see a transcription and a summary depending on the conversations.
The capacity has certain limits. Vocal conversations count for regular user ceilings – Anthropic says that 20-30 conversations are that most free users can wait. In addition, only Claude subscribers can take advantage of a Google Workspace connector which allows vocal mode to access Google calendar appointments and Gmail e-mails (Google Docs integration is exclusive to Claude’s business plans).
Mike Krieger Anthropic CPO confirmed The company was working on vocal capacities for Claude in an interview with the Financial Times in early March. According to the report, Anthropic held talks with Amazon, the main investor and partner of the company, and the AI startups focused on the voice, to possibly stimulate future vocal features for Claude.
We do not know which of these partnerships, if necessary, materialized.
