After the counter coupling to a confusing comment he made on Captain America, Anthony Mackie clarified his words on Instagram.
During an appearance promoting “Captain America: Brave New World” in Rome, Mackie talked about what the character of Captain America represents. In a video published for the first time by The Roux Diaries (@REDHEADSDiaries) on Instagram, Mackie said: “For me, Captain America represents a lot of different things and I do not think that the term ‘` America’ ‘should be the ‘One of these representations. He is a man who holds his word, who has honor, dignity and integrity. Someone who is trustworthy and reliable. »»
While the clip became viral, many disputed Mackie, saying that Captain America should not represent America. Mackie published a declaration of clarification on her Instagram history, indicating that he meant that Captain America has “universal characteristics” and declaring that he is proud to be an American.
“Let me be clear about it,” wrote Anthony Mackie, “I am an American proud and I take the shield of a hero like Cap is the honor of a life. I have the greatest Respect for those who serve and served our country.
Anthony Mackie, as Sam Wilson, took Captain America’s coat in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” after Steve Rogers offered him the CAP shield in “Avengers: Endgame”.
“Captain America: Brave New World” also features Danny Ramirez in the role of Joaquin Torres / Falcon, taking charge of the old superhero coat of Sam Wilson. Harrison Ford replaces the late William Hurt as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, alias Red Hulk. Liv Tyler will resume his role while Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson will return as Samuel Sterns / Leader, both appearing in the MCU for the first time since “The Incredible Hulk” (2008).
The cast also includes Carl Lumbly like Isaiah Bradley, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker / Sidewinder, and Shira Haas like Ruth Bat-Seraph. The film is directed by Julius Onah from a scenario of Onah, Rob Edwards, Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson and Peter Glanz. It is produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore.
“Captain America: Brave New World” was in theaters on February 14, 2025.
