WASHINGTON (AP) — Anthony Edwards has yet another bill to pay at NBA. THE Minnesota Timberwolves The star was fined $50,000 for making obscene gestures towards a match official.
The league announced the sanction Monday before Minnesota’s 120-106 victory at Washington, citing his conduct with 1:26 left in the third quarter of the game. 127-125 defeat in Memphis on Saturday. Edwards scored 41 points in Monday’s win.
“I made a reckless, young, stupid mistake shooting birds,” Edwards, 23, said Monday. “It has nothing to do with the referees. This is all I mentally make as a stupid mistake. I won’t do it anymore.
Edwards, a two-time All-Star in his fifth season, was replaced with 2:25 left in the period. He received his ninth technical foul of the NBA season while on the bench.
“I won’t have any more technicians, I won’t say anything else,” Edwards promised with a smile. He also had 15 technicians last season, most of them in the first half.
Edwards has been penalized a total of $285,000 by the league this season for five different behavioral transgressions, primarily for language. In December, he was docked $100,000 for profanity during a live television interview, $75,000 for profane public criticism of officials and $25,000 for profanity during a media interview. In November, he was fined $35,000 for making an obscene gesture on the field.
