Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards used Shannon Sharpe’s lyrics to trolge the ESPN personality after Minnesota rebounded the NBA eliminators’ lakers in match 5 on Wednesday evening.
Edwards made fun of the prediction of Sharpe’s “Lakers in 5” after the Outsider Timberwolves progressed in the second round with a 103-96 victory against Los Angeles.
“Ant Man, Batman, Superman. Lakers in 5,” said Edwards, leaving Crypto.com Arena, as seen in a video on social networks.
The all-star of the NBA was seen with a smile and counting on his fingers when he repeated Sharpe, who has since become a meme for his “Lakers in 5”, which includes him reciting random words that rhyme.
Edwards said that the remark of “Lakers in 5” while making an impromptu victory tour in the streets of Los Angeles after the match.
During a recent episode of his podcast “Nightcap”, Sharpe, who is the fans of the Lakers and a passionate supporter of LeBron James, predicted that the Lakers would eliminate the Wolves in five competitions.
Sharpe – Who moved away from his functions as an ESPN after being accused last month of rape by a unique model in a civil lawsuit – laughed at his prediction puff during his podcast “Nightcap”, which was filmed just after the match on Wednesday evening.
“I was in a hurry by time, what I meant was that the Lakers returned home in 5,” joked Sharpe. “This is what I meant, but you don’t let me finish my thoughts, my sentences.
“If someone told me that Ant Man was going to have trouble shooting the ball tonight and that he was going to win this match because Rudy Gobert was going to be one of the few guys in a eliminatory match to have a 20-20 game … Rudy Gobert entered the game with an average of three points and six rebounds in the night.”
Edwards finished 5 out of 19 with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Gobert, the Timberwolves center, dominated the two ends of the soil to defeat the little Lakers, which lack depth in the central position.
The center has experienced high career highs with 27 points and 24 rebounds, scoring more points than it totaled in the first four games in the first round series.
Lakers lost in the first round for the second consecutive year, this time with the first year head coach JJ Redick.
The Timberwolves will face the winner of the Warriors-Rockets series in the semi-finals of the Western Conference.
Golden State has a 3-2 lead, with match 6 at the Chase Center for Friday evening.
