The “The Devil Wears Prada” actress, 41, explained that she was under constant stress as a young actress and took life for granted.

“As a young woman suffering from chronic stress, I remember thinking one day: ‘You take this for granted. You take your life for granted,'” she explained in the first episode of New York Magazine’s “The Interview” podcast.

“‘You have no idea. Something could fall in the sky and the lights would go out. So when I find my old instincts kicking in, I just tell myself, ‘You’re not going to die of stress.’

The “Princess Diaries” actress didn’t explain why she was so stressed, but said she “didn’t know how to breathe yet.”

“It’s a little too exposed to discuss the alienation I felt from my body, but there was a lot of somatic stress there,” she said.

The Les Miserables star opened up about having some uncomfortable experiences when she was just starting out as an actress.

Earlier this month, Hathaway told V Magazine that she was once asked to kiss 10 men for a chemistry test.

“I was told, ‘We have 10 guys coming today and you’re picked.’ Aren’t you excited to kiss them all?’” she recalled.

“And I thought, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ Because I wasn’t excited. I thought it looked disgusting,” she said.

Although she wasn’t interested in the task, she said she took the test because she didn’t want to be labeled “difficult.”

“It wasn’t a power play, no one was trying to harm me or hurt me,” the Oscar winner said. “It was just a very different time and now we know better.”
