Anna Paquin walks red carpet with a cane at NYC premiere amid health battle

Oscar winner Anna Paquin stepped out on the red carpet with a cane as she continues to battle undisclosed health issues that have left her with mobility issues.

The “True Blood” alum, 41, was all smiles at the star-studded New York event at the Crosby Street Hotel on Wednesday night.

Paquin posed for photos with her husband, actor Stephen Moyer, 54, as the two stepped out together to promote their latest film, “A Bit of Light.”

Paquin looked chic in a sequinned black dress featuring pointed shoulder pads. She paired her classic look with black tights and heeled leather boots.

She wore her black hair in a bun for the night.

Moyer, for his part, also opted for an all-black look consisting of a suit, shirt and tie in the same shade.

Despite his health problems and the use of a cane to cope, Paquin seemed in good spirits.

“It hasn’t been easy,” she told People of her mobility issues and speech difficulties.

Elsewhere, Paquin said she was grateful to continue working during this time.

“My first love was independent cinema,” said Paquin, who is the second-youngest Oscar winner after winning the gong at age 11 for her role in “The Piano.”

“That’s how I got into the film industry. I worked with people who told stories and told them with integrity and truth,” she continued.

A source told the outlet that Paquin is expected to make a full recovery.

The “X-Men” actress also said she was grateful for her husband’s support.

“He’s my favorite person to play with,” she said of Moyer, who directed the duo’s latest project. “I’m not sentimental when it comes to work.”

Paquin’s outing marked her first red carpet appearance since October 2022, when she posed for photos at the Raindance Film Festival.

The couple, who married in 2010, are the proud parents of 11-year-old twins, Charlie and Poppy.

And while they generally choose to stay out of the spotlight, Moyer often talks about his wife in sweet social media posts.

In August, the director marked the couple’s 13th wedding anniversary with a heartfelt Instagram post.

Moyer wrote: “The good lady actress/producer/badass inside, and I have been married for 13 years!! I forgot to mention it on Monday because, you know, we were pretty busy 😉”

“Thank you to everyone who remembered and sent messages.. 💜💜💜 And to those who didn’t remember, don’t worry, we almost forgot too 🤪”, he concluded.
