Anger, dismay of nascar veterans after XFINITY chaotic finish

The Nascar Xfinity race in Martinsville presented 14 warnings and a red flag, with 104 of the 256 rounds sunk in yellow flag conditions. It was a rough short track race with contact all around the half-mile, culminating in a controversial finish where Sammy Smith came from several car lengths to wreck the leader of the Taylor Gray race. This decision sparked a massive accident which also eliminated Smith from the statements.

Subsequently, Smith said “This is what you have to do” to win, but several more experienced drivers did not agree. Here is an overview of some of their comments during and after the very controversial race:

Indignation of the interior of the Xfinity field

Anger and frustration were not limited to those who looked. Several pilots of the race on Saturday were indignant by the lack of race and professionalism.

After being destroyed from the event, a Christian Ecker not impressed described 2025 as “the year of hell” for him. As for Sam Mayer, who launched the wreckage that eliminated him from the event, Eckes said about Mayer: “He will not change anything.”

Addition of Nick Sanchez, who was withdrawn in the same incident: “I don’t know why we destroy directly to Martinsville … ready to go to real races next week.”

Jeremy Clements, driver / owner and veteran of more than 500 races in the Nascar Xfinity series, said this of the end: “Really disappointed with the lack of respect on the track this evening. It is a shame of this great series. Little things there ran without just running in the guy in front of them. I don’t know what we are doing to clean it but something should be done.”

Jeb Burton, who was collected in the scrum at the last blow, published the following message on social networks: “It is sad when nobody drives with respect. I came from death this evening without damage and we destroyed our car for what?

The defending champion of the Nascar Xfinity series, Justin Allgaier, described him as “unacceptable” while speaking in frontttch in a post-course media melee, adding: “Twenty years ago, we did not run like that.”

Garrett Smithley was proud of his own efforts, but that the races devoted themselves to “stamps” a little too much. “I think we, as a series, must be better.”

Anthony Alfredo suggested that fans “look at a car race (late model) for classic short track races, not anything. How will you suggest that we set up this lead and reassess this track from this series to what it should be?”
