Angelina Jolie Asks Brad Pitt to ‘End the Fighting’ and Drop Lawsuit Against Winery

All Angelina Jolie wants is for Brad Pitt to “end the fighting” and drop his multimillion-dollar lawsuit against her. But if he doesn’t, her lawyer said in a new statement, she’s willing to bring to light evidence he “fears” will be made public.

Jolie and Pitt have been locked in a bitter legal battle since February 2022, when he sued her for selling her half of their French wine estate the previous year, allegedly violating a verbal agreement they had made for him to buy her out.

Jolie’s team, meanwhile, claimed that negotiations to sell the film to Pitt fell through after he asked her to sign “a confidentiality agreement that would have contractually prohibited her from speaking outside of court about Pitt’s physical and psychological abuse of her and their children.” Pitt’s lawyers have denied the allegations.

Their battle took another turn in early April when Jolie’s lawyers filed a motion seeking all of Pitt’s communications with third parties regarding an infamous incident aboard their family’s private plane in 2016, arguing that the documents were “highly relevant” to their case. Earlier this week, Pitt’s lawyers responded, calling the request “broad and intrusive” and describing it as “sensationalism,” according to documents obtained by People at the time. They asked that Angelina Jolie’s motion be dismissed.

On Wednesday, Angelina Jolie’s attorney Paul Murphy told the magazine that Pitt’s alleged request for an expanded confidentiality agreement was an attempt to “punish and control her” and cover up “his personal misconduct and abuse.”

Murphy added: “These actions are at the heart of this proceeding. We are not at all surprised that Mr Pitt is afraid to hand over the documents demonstrating these facts.

“As Angelina again calls on Mr. Pitt to stop fighting and finally put her family on the path to healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his complaint, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations false,” the attorney concluded.

A spokesperson for Pitt declined to comment to the magazine on Wednesday.

In their response earlier this week, Pitt’s lawyers claimed that The Inglourious Bastards the star had “voluntarily offered to produce sufficient documents to show All “It happened during the flight that precipitated the ex-couple’s divorce, the event that Jolie claims made Pitt’s NDA request so offensive here.”

But Jolie, according to Pitt’s lawyers, rejected his offer “and sought to obtain a ban on his communications with third parties, including his closest advisers, on such sensitive topics as the therapy he voluntarily undertook after the flight incident in an effort to improve himself, the ‘drug and alcohol testing’ he allegedly underwent, his alleged ‘overconsumption or abuse of alcohol’ and other actions taken after the flight.”

Many details surrounding what happened aboard the 2016 flight remained murky until October 2022, when Jolie filed a counterclaim describing Pitt’s alleged verbal and physical tirades as the family flew from France to California.

About 90 minutes after takeoff, Pitt asked Jolie to come with him to the back of the plane, where he pulled her into the bathroom and began yelling at her, according to the counterclaim. “Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, then grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her again before pushing her against the bathroom wall,” the counterclaim alleges.

The lawsuit also alleges that Pitt lunged at one of their children who was trying to defend their mother; injured Jolie’s back and elbow when she tried to stop him; “strangled one of the children and punched another in the face”; and poured alcohol on Jolie and the children before the plane landed in Los Angeles.

According to the counterclaim, Jolie filed for divorce five days later.

Pitt and Angelina Jolie married in 2014 after 10 years of dating. They were declared legally single in 2019, but have not yet finalized their separation. The couple have six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.

“Both sides are still in talks,” a source close to the couple said. People earlier this month of the divorce proceedings, “but it’s not done yet.”
