Angel Postcoglou retaliated to criticism for what he considers a continuous negativity towards Tottenham – and has promised to continue to fight for as long as he is in charge of the club.

Negative rumbles reached a head when Postcoglou was questioned about a discussion between Brennan Johnson and Mathys Tel for those who would take a late penalty kick against Southampton on Sunday.
This scored to win a 3-1 victory, but the Australian was irritated by a change perceived towards a negative story after a positive day for his side.

‘Seriously. If we are 2-1 against Frankfurt and we get a penalty at the last minute, I want the best penalty lessee to take it.

“The winner’s mentality at the last minute of the match is to score a goal. We have scored a goal. And yet, in this ultimate universe where everything that Tottenham does is bad, which has become negative.
The future of PostCoglou has been under the microscope for months, with speculation that for 59 years at the club should end this summer.
However, he insisted that he would not use negativity as a motivation to defeat Frankfurt.
“I think someone wrote that even if we win it, I left anyway. It is not tried, that simply says the general feeling of people. So, if you try to use it as a motivation, you are not going to gain this anyway.
“There must be more for us and for us, what is the most important thing in a group is that we have spent a really difficult period, but we are always in a position where we can have an impact – and you do not know how often you get these opportunities.”
