Angel Postcoglou smells of heat in a thorny interview with Sky Sports Reporter while he goes on Var Rant and is asked about his gesture for fans of Spurs in the defeat at Chelsea

Angel Postcoglou was on the left on uncomfortable issues and the charges of disconnecting with Tottenham supporters on Thursday evening after his team fell to a 1-0 defeat in Chelsea.

The Australian was involved in an post-match freezing interview with Sky Sports and tried to minimize a moment during the second half when he seemed to be cut off in the direction of the outside end to Stamford Bridge.

The gesture came immediately after the long -range shot of Pope Matar Sarr in the 69th minute, which seemed to have brought to the Spurs until a long Var review was excluded for a Sarr fault on Moises Caicedo in construction.

Just for a few moments before that, Postcoglou had replaced Sarr for Lucas Bergvall – a decision that was met with hua travel fans, some of which have also sang: “You do not know what you are doing.”

Apparently in response, Postcoglou turned to the outside section and took his ear. But when he was asked about the gesture of Patrick Davison of Sky Sports, he insisted that he had been misinterpreted.

“Yeah, I wanted them to be happy, guy,” said postcoglou. “We just scored a cracking goal. So I wanted them to applaud – because they did not have much to encourage.

When asked if the gesture was a direct reaction to his humor substitutions, Postocoglou replied: “This is not the first time that my substitutions have been huae. If you have followed my mandate, this is not the first time. They are allowed to huer. But I wanted them to applaud – because I thought it was a cracking goal.

Davison has grown again: “ You said in the week – in your interview with Mark Schwarzer – that you thought you had lost part of the fans. Is that what we saw tonight?

Postcoglou bristly: “I understand, pat. You try really hard. It’s very good. You have already decided what is the result.

Davison then tried to keep Postocoglou on the side saying to him: “There is no agenda.”

The interview also saw Postocoglou repeat its distance for Var.

“It kills the game, guy. It is not the same game it was, ”he said. “We all sat on our sofas last night and watched television – I guaranteed you, if Jarred Gillett was Var last night, we would have a different result.”

The postcoglou “last night” mentioned was the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday in Anfield, where Liverpool beat Everton 1-0. During this match, a dangerous challenge by James Tarkowski on Alexis Mac Allister led to a yellow card, despite Var briefly checking if the official on the field had been too forgiving.

The lack of intervention Var shocked experts and fans, while the PGMOL even admitted later that Tarkowski should have been sent.

After Thursday evening’s defeat, Postcoglou participated in an icy interview with Sky Sports

“You just don’t know what you are going to get,” continued Postcoglou, still smoking Sarr’s refused goal. “We waited six minutes for something that apparently the Var thought was clear and obvious. It’s madness, guy.

Davison asked if he thought that Var’s decision to prohibit Sarr’s objective was wrong. Postcoglou pushed back: “Look, Pat, you can try to force me in a corner.”

Davison: “I’m not trying to force you to nothing.”

Postcoglou replied: “Do you think last night was clear and obvious?” How many minutes did this referee need to determine if it was clear and obvious? In your basic knowledge of human vocabulary – “clear and obvious” – what does that suggest you? “”

Davison admitted: “No, it may not be clear and obvious. I think it’s a fault (by Sarr), if I’m honest.

PostCoglou: “OK. RIGHT. Well, that’s it. The referee therefore did not see it. He then needed to see him for six minutes, but you get the right result, so you are happy – and that’s why the game goes like that. And I guess people as you will continue to be happy on your sofas while waiting for six minutes for clear and obvious things. It’s very good. I don’t agree with that, but that’s good.

Davison tried to finish a positive point pending impatiently the first match of the quarter -final of the Europa League next week against Frankfurt: “Did you see enough for Thursday?” Because the season depends in the end, right?

Postcoglou shook his head: “No, no. We must first get Sunday (against Southampton in the Premier League). We have to go before Sunday. I think it is important to continue playing.

Postcoglou was very critical of Var when he reiterated his feeling that he “ killing the game ”

Spurs have now lost 16 of their 30 championship games so far this season and they are sitting in 14th position

The former Spurs captain, Jamie Redknapp, working as an expert for Sky, said here undoubtedly the tension indicated by the gesture of the ear between PostCoglou and the club’s fans base.

“He did a few substitutions and I don’t think it went too well with Tottenham fans,” said Redknapp. “And I think that when they scored, it seemed to hear his hands to the fans of the Spurs as if to say:” Well, listen, I know better. “”

On the post-match scenes, Redknapp added: “Normally, it would be there by applying them. There is a disconnection between the two for the moment.

“It is not ideal for the manager. But he has big games to come. He just has to keep his head high.

Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill also felt serious tension.

“There is certainly a frustration with the manager and the fans,” said Cahill.

“Honestly, I must be honest: they were awful today. I did not see a clear match plan. No shot on the target at halftime. He must be disappointed.

“There is a clear friction there, you can see.
