Angel Cabrera defends the return of controversial masters: “Why not?”

Augusta, Georgia – If Angel Cabrera is aware of anyone who is not happy that he plays in the masters of this week on the basis of the multiple condemnations for assault against ex -girlfriends, you would not know.

Cabrera, who was imprisoned 30 months in Brazil and Argentina before being released in 2023, was questioned Tuesday after a training session, on the basis of what he had done, why he “deserved” to be in Augusta this week.

“I won the masters,” he said, referring to his 2009 victory. “Why not?”

Cabrera, who won the Masters 2009, attended the annual champions dinner with her colleagues champions spent on Tuesday evening.

“Life gave me another opportunity,” he said. “I have to take advantage of it and do the right things in this second opportunity. Obviously, I regret things that have happened, and you learn from them. ”

The Spanish amateur Jose Luis Ballester, in the Masters’ field this week as an American amateur winner, had the experience of a life on Tuesday, playing a round of training with not only three Spanish comrades, but three former champions of the masters. He led him with Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia and José Maria Olazábal.

“It was incredible,” said Ballester. “Four green jackets in this group, so it was very special, all the knowledge they shared was significant. I just tried to keep my ears open. ”

Rahm, the 2023 master champion, delighted about the 20 -year -old bullets.

“Difficult to describe your game anywhere but extremely powerful,” said Rahm. “You have a player who has a ball speed of 190 (MPH) when he leaves the bed in the morning. With two parents who are Olympians, he has all the athletic genes he needs to succeed in the game and a lot of talent. He is a very, very good player.

“He is a wonderful man. He is extremely kind, very empathetic, which is really interesting to see for a young age at university. ”

Rory McILroy, who endured his share of Heartbreak during major tournaments (like the Masters), said Tuesday that his young daughter Poppy as part of his team “definitely makes the stockings a little easier to take”.

When he won the players’ championship last month, he said that “it was the first time that she had done what I did, which was really cool … also a little scary at the same time.

“It is incredible that I can share these things with her and with (wife) Erica. The day after the players, (Poppy) went to school and there were some children who had said things to her, and she came home that day and said to me:” Dad, are you famous? “”

“I said,” It depends on who you are talking about “. As everyone knows it is children, it’s an incredible addition to life, and it’s great that it is here this week. “”
