Brazil boss Dorival Junior confirmed on Friday that Richarlison was not in his squad for the Copa America due to injury.

And speaking ahead of the Burnley clash, Postecoglou said: β€œHe injured his calf in the last action of training yesterday.

“He’s gone for a scan so we’ll wait and see what the result is, but not available for today.”

Brennan Johnson, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski were the chosen attacking options for Spurs, with Dane Scarlett as the backup striker.

Richarlison has enjoyed much more success in front of goal this season for Spurs compared to his debut campaign.

He has only scored three times in 35 appearances, but this time his tally stands at 12 in 31 appearances, 11 of which came in the league.

The 27-year-old has suffered a knee problem recently, but his form has not been as good as it was earlier in the season as a result.

Richarlison came off the bench in their 4-2 defeat to Liverpool last weekend, scoring and assisting in Spurs’ fourth successive defeat.

He was not selected for his country due to a calf injury.
