Getty imagesRomero’s lawyer Lindsay Toczylowski, identified him in an image that photographer Philip Holinger took as kneel and prayed while his head was shaved during the admission to the El Salvador terrorism confinement center in March.
Holserger told CBS that he had heard Romero screaming “I am innocent” and “I am gay” while the guards gilled him: “He began to pray and call, literally crying for his mother,” said Holinger.
Romero, 31, was looking for asylum in the United States for persecution in Venezuela to be gay and his opposition to the Venezuelan government when he was expelled to El Salvador with 237 other Venezuelan migrants on March 15 Flights, a judge ordered to turn around.
The Trump administration said that all men were members of the Venezuelan gang Tren of Aragua, but lawyers and family members for several men reject the assessments, while CBS News found no criminal record for 75% of men.
Lawyers of the Trump administration said that Romero crowns tattoos – which, according to Toczylowski, are above the names of his mother and father – are proofs of his Aragua affiliation, as well as social networks publications, although a CBS review of a decade of the value of the social media in Romero has not found such indications.
The Trump administration has until 12:59 p.m. Monday to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a father from Maryland, the government said that he had been expelled to El Salvador. Although an ice manager admits that Greo Garcia has been expelled due to an “office error”, the White House insisted that he had credible proofs to prove that he is a member of the MS-13 gang. His lawyer said that the only evidence is a statement by a confidential informant who said he belonged to MS-13’s outpost in Long Island, although he was never in New York.
The Trump administration expelled the 238 migrants to El Salvador on March 15 after Trump invoked the Extraterrestrial Enemies Act of 1798, a special war -time authority which allowed managers to eject certain migrants without legal proceedings. Almost simultaneously, the American district judge James Boasberg ordered the administration to suspend the law to take effect and transform thefts – by performing towards a court battle for several weeks between the White House and Boasberg while the judge investigates if the administration has challenged his order. The Trump administration argued that Boasberg did not have the power to replace a decree and that his written order did not have the same instructions as his verbal directive to return the planes. The lawyers of the Ministry of Justice have repeatedly resisted Boasberg’s request for information on the moment when thefts have left American soil and the reasoning of the administration to expel migrants.
