The devices running Android 16 will collect a new tip when the software update will later deploy this year: the possibility of running an office style interface while being connected to an external screen. A first version of the idea was spotted for Android 16 beta phones, but as 9TO5GOOGLE Noticed, Google made the official functionality during its developer Keynote.
According to the presentation, the new window functionality and external display was created in collaboration with Samsung, “based on the Samsung Dex foundation, to provide improved desktop window capacities in Android 16.” Before this official support, Samsung Dex was a personalized feature that Samsung integrated into a single user interface which allowed certain Samsung phones and tablets to display a desktop style interface while being connected to a screen.
Google’s implementation seems to aim for the same thing, with resident windows and a quay for your most used applications. The company also seems open to functionality working on shelves and phones. In a blog article tasting the advantages of the development of adaptive applications, Google says that Android 16 offers “a real desktop experience on large screens and when the devices are connected to external screens”. Although Google’s language leaves things open, the management of this office experience could still spend the manufacturers of telephone the activator and the application developers ensure that their applications play well with redoneable windows.
An Android 16 beta developer is available for download on certain phones and tablets now. Assuming that the office window and the support of external screens do not fall into a subsequent update, you can try the new features by yourself when Android 16 is launched in June.
