Back on the pitch at the Vélodrome for the first time in ten years, André Ayew scored the only goal for Le Havre in the slap against OM (5-1), at the end of the 16th day of Ligue 1.
He scored in the 85th minute, while his Le Havre team was trailing 5-0. He is the former OM player, trained in Marseille in the footsteps of his illustrious father Abedi Pelé. Obviously, André Ayew refused to celebrate and seemed to apologize on a pitch at the Vélodrome that he had not set foot on for ten years. The public didn’t hold it against him and even cheered him, chanting his name. Before giving him a standing ovation for his exit.
“People know what OM means to me, to my family, for everything it has given us. The clubs opened the doors to us, from dad to Jordan… it was very special,” confided André Ayew on DAZN after the match. “Ten years since I last returned from this pitch. Today I was very moved, very happy to return to this stadium. The match makes things more complicated. But I can’t say anything else: I was very happy, very moved to find the supporters and everything that surrounds this club.”
On the ovation after his goal and on his exit, he added: “A lot of emotion. I want to thank all the people of Marseille for this evening, it touched me, from the bottom of my heart. This club gave me a lot , it shows that I was able to leave my mark here, especially after the padre and everything he did, it wasn’t easy to make his name. Everything I gave… that’s great for me. showed today that the supporters have it seen and they give me all this love It’s my club, it’s always been my dream club. André Ayew left OM in 2015 for Swansea.
