Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (AP) – The alleged US air strikes hit Yemen sites controlled by the Houthi rebels on Friday, including neighborhoods in the capital, Sanaa.
The magnitude of possible damage and losses was not immediately clear, although the number of strikes was particularly intense compared to the other days of the campaign that started on March 15.
A review by the Associated Press revealed that the new American operation under the American president Donald Trump seems to be more extensive than those under the former president Joe Biden, while the United States only went to target the launch sites at layoffs on classification staff as well as to abandon bombs in cities.
The first reports of the Houthis described at least seven people injured in the attacks on Friday in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen that the rebels have detained since 2014. Other strikes struck in the port city of the Red Sea of Hodeida, the bastion of the rebels of Saada and the governors of Yemen Al-Jawf Amran and Marib.
The Houthis did not immediately recognize what had been specifically targeted, other than Sanaa International Airport, which is used for civil and military traffic. The districts of the capital also house military and intelligence services, as well as civilians.
A video Associated Press showed a bomb falling in Sanaa, with a huge plume of smoke that rose in the night sky, with many people awake in the last days of the month of Sacred Muslim Fast Ramadan.

The other affected areas included mountainous land north of Sanaa in Amran, where military camps and other facilities are. The Al-Masirah de Houthis satellite network of satellite described the communication networks that drop after attacks, which included at least 19 strikes there alone.
The central command of the American army, which now has the authority of the White House to strike offensively in Yemen without pre-approval, did not immediately admit to having carried out strikes. The order, which under Biden has offered details on individual strikes, did not provide this information in this campaign.
The new air strike campaign, which, according to the Houthis, killed at least 57 people, started after the rebels threatened to start targeting the “Israeli” ships against the blocking aid of Israel entering the Gaza Strip. Rebels in the past have had a loose definition of what constitutes an Israeli ship, which means that other ships could also be targeted.
The Houthis had targeted more than 100 merchant ships with missiles and drones, flowing two ships and killing four sailors during their campaign targeting ships from November 2023 to January this year. They have also launched attacks targeting American warships, although none has been hit so far.
The attacks have considerably increased the profile of the Houthis by facing economic problems and launched a repression targeting any dissent and workers in Le Havre
