Houston (AP) – Jonathan Joss, an actor of voice that is best known for his work on the television series animated “King of the Hill”, was killed by one death by Texas, the authorities announced on Monday.
Police were sent to a house in South San Antonio around 7 p.m. Sunday during an ongoing shooting. When the police arrived, they found the 59 -year -old injured near the street.
“The police tried rescue measures until the EMS arrives. The EMS said the deceased victim,” San Antonio police said in a statement.
Joss’s husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, confirmed the actor’s death to the Associated Press in a text. The two were married earlier this year on Valentine’s Day.
In an email, San Antonio police immediately provided any information on what caused the shooting.
In a statement, De Gonzales said that he and Joss had already faced harassment, largely “openly homophobic”. Joss’ husband said that the actor had shouted “violent homophobic insults” before opening fire.
“He was murdered by someone who could not bear the sight of two men loving himself,” said Gonzales.
Before the shooting, from Gonzales and Joss checked the mail at the home of Joss, who had been strongly damaged during a January fire that cost their three dogs. A man approached both and threatened them with a firearm, said Gonzales.
“Jonathan and I did not have weapons. We were not doing anyone. We were in mourning. We were standing side by side. When the man shot Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,” Gonzales said in a statement.
After the shooting, the authorities arrested Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 56, and accused him of murder at the death of Joss.
The judicial archives did not list a lawyer who could speak on behalf of Ceja Alvarez, who was held in the County Detention Center in the county of Bexar.
In a statement, San Antonio police said that his investigation “had found no evidence indicating that the murder of Mr. Joss was linked to his sexual orientation.”
“We take such allegations very seriously and have examined all the information available in depth. If new evidence is revealed, we will instill the suspect accordingly,” the police said.
Joss, who grew up in San Antonio, was best known as the voice of John Redcorn, an Amerindian character from the popular animated series “King of the Hill” which lasted 13 seasons from 1997 to 2008. A restart of the show should start in August.
Joss also played a recurring role in the television show “Parks and Recreation”, playing chef Ken Hotate. He appeared in two episodes of the “Tulsa King” series in 2022.
A GoFundme page was created in January for Joss after the fire of the house. According to the page, Joss had lost all of his personal effects in the fire, including his vehicle.
Before being deadly, Joss was in Austin, located about 80 miles (130 kilometers) northeast of San Antonio, for events linked to an overview of the renewal of the “King of the Hill”.
On Saturday, Joss had published a video on Instagram in which he said that he signed autographs in a comic book bookstore in Austin.
“Fans can revisit” King of the Hill “again, which, I think, is an incredible thing because it is a big show,” said Joss in the video, adding that he had already done vocal work on four episodes of the renewal.
Joss’ husband said Joss was grateful to her fans.
“To all those who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he has greatly appreciated you. He saw you as a family,” said Gonzales.
