Amy Schumer said she played by her own rules when she met a professional baseball player.
The comedian was a guest on the latest episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, and she didn’t hesitate when host Alex Cooper asked her about “the craziest interaction you’ve ever had” with a fan.
“I’ve never said this anywhere, but when I was kind of at my peak, touring arenas, whatever, and I’m going to say it…were they professional athletes? Of course,” Schumer, 43, said. “Did I text them late at night and they came to me and then I said, ‘I’m so tired, I’m so sorry’ and they left? Yes.
“And you know who you are,” she continued, looking directly at the camera.
The “Kinda Pregnant” actress, whose last arena tour was in 2016, did not reveal the athlete’s name or when or where the encounter took place.
Schumer admitted that the professional baseball player attended one of his comedy shows.
“It’s happened several times and I’m not proud of it,” Schumer said, joking that she was “going to be canceled.”
“You want to be a generous lover no matter what, but at that point it was like, you know, some people are going to make fun of the guys and that’s the end of the night. So I did it my way, to quote Frank Sinatra,” she said.
Schumer also explained how this moment inspired a scene from his 2015 film “Trainwreck,” which also stars LeBron James.
“He lunged at me and then I yawned and was like (I’m tired),” she said. “It’s a ‘Trainwreck’ moment – it’s taken from real life.
“It’s not the most popular decision that gets the best response, but it’s the truth. When I was in my hay (day) one of them was mad and one of them was totally okay with it. And the baseball player was pretty cool about it.
