America’s largest candy store is a Costco-sized warehouse filled with treats from around the world

For sugar lovers, the “happiest place on earth” isn’t Disneyland. It’s actually a massive big-box store tucked away in a warehouse district in downtown Los Angeles.

Jack’s Candy, a wonderland of sweet treats with over 90 years of history, fills its expansive space with bulk candy from around the world.

Imagine if Willy Wonka decided to open his own Costco – that’s the vibe at Jack’s Candy, with endless aisles bursting with colors and flavors at incredible warehouse prices.

The history of Jack’s Candy dates back to the 1930s when Jack Levy started it all with a cart overflowing with candy.

He brought it to the bustling produce markets of downtown Los Angeles, laying the foundation for the candy empire that exists today.

The Ahamed family took over the business in 1980, and a decade ago moved the company to a climate-controlled haven: a 50,000-square-foot warehouse just down the street from the original store.

“Over the years, we have expanded our range and selection,” Ahmed explains. “We are always on the lookout for new products and trends.”

Step inside Jack’s Wonderland’s 50,000-square-foot warehouse and you’ll be greeted by a mind-boggling 14,000 stock keeping units (SKUs). For comparison, Costco stores only keep about 4,000 SKUs at a time.

It’s not just candy, it’s a party in store form. From towering piñatas to festive party decorations and cake stands, they have everything you need to make any party a success.

With a diverse range of candies from all corners of the world, Jack’s Candy caters to every taste.

They boast that their selection, combined with the size of their store, makes them the largest candy store in America.

Most of the candy is Mexican, and Los Angeles’ large Hispanic population is grateful to have the treats they miss back home.

The store owner also sometimes stocks the latter’s favorite type of candy: a chocolate-covered, pineapple-flavored gummy bear from Hawaii, which stands above its more mundane candy siblings.
