Last month, the Taliban asked the international community for more foreign aid after the United Nations pledged $ 1 billion.
“We know that the Afghan people have been under the weight of war for forty years,” Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister for the Taliban, said in September after President Biden’s botched withdrawal from the country.
“That is why we hope that the international community will lend a hand to Afghanistan in various fields”, he continued, promising that the money of the UNO “would reach those who deserve it”.
This week, the Group of 20 (G20) confirmed that the jihadist organization will be involved in the distribution of humanitarian aid in the war-torn country.
