An American woman living in the UK has revealed what has surprised her most since moving abroad.
California native Andrea Celeste has amassed a loyal following of 193,000 followers on TikTok through her popular content comparing and contrasting the two cultures.
More recently, she opened up about the things that shocked her the most, including her thoughts on the English accent.

In the clip, which has been viewed 417,000 times so far, Andrea wasted no time and launched straight into her list: “One of the biggest culture shocks I experienced moving from California to England was how small everything was, like highways, houses, cars.” .
“Everything seemed a lot smaller, which is not surprising, because I come from a place where there are 10-lane highways and giant cars.”
She continued: ‘And obviously, the accents, but I was actually more surprised at how many different English accents there were.
“I think in the United States you grow up watching films made in England, and 99% of the time they are films from London or with more neutral accents.
“I actually went to North Yorkshire on my very first trip to England, so I had a huge surprise when they didn’t all look like Tom Hiddleston.”
But Andrea didn’t stop there.
“I mean, it’s the way people dress. This really caught me off guard, because it was just slightly different from how people dress in California.
“But you can definitely tell the difference – especially in footwear, because wearing thin fabric shoes like Vans and Converse is not as common, due to the unpredictable rain, which I learned on first day of college when I wore Toms, and they got completely soaked within the first 15 minutes of being outside.
More recently, she admitted the things that shocked her the most, including her thoughts on the English accent.
