American Airlines Computer Glitch Disrupts Pilot Schedules

American Airlines Group and the union that represents its pilots is discussing extra pay for some pilots to compensate them for flying flights that have been cut from their schedules due to a computer glitch, the union said on Sunday.

The Allied Pilots Association union said on Saturday that the airline’s scheduling platform mistakenly allowed pilots to drop thousands of future trips overnight Saturday. As a result, up to 12,075 flights in July lacked a captain, first officer or both, the union said on Saturday.
