American age is over

Rightly so, it was Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who said the official death time.

The global economy is fundamentally different today from what it was yesterday. The global trade system has anchored on the United States, on which Canada has been reluctant since the end of the Second World War – a system which, although not perfect, has contributed to providing prosperity to our country for decades – has been over.

Our old constant improvement relationship of integration with the United States is over.

The period of eighty years when the United States has adopted the mantle of global economic leadership – when it forged rooted alliances in confidence and mutual respect, and defended the free and open exchange of good and services – is over.

Although it is a tragedy, it is also the new reality.

And just like that, the age of the American Empire, the big Pax Americaafinished.

We cannot overestimate what has just happened. It only took Donald Trump to destroy the American economy, fatally injuring NATO and destroying the world order led by the Americans.

He did it with the enthusiastic support of the entire republican party and the conservative movement.

He did it with the support of a plurality of American voters.

He did not hide his intentions. He campaigned on them. He made it the central push of his elections. He told Americans that he would betray our allies and abandon our leadership position in the world.

There are only three possible explanations on the reasons why the Americans voted for this man:

1. They wanted what he had promised;

2. They did not believe what he had promised; Or

3. They did not understand what he promised.

Choose the justification you want because it doesn’t matter. Whatever the reason, it exposed half of the electorate – the 77 million people who voted for Trump – as fundamentally not unbalanced, decadent or weak.

And no empire can survive the degeneration of its people.

Understand this: there is no going back.

If, tomorrow, Donald Trump had dismissed his entire pricing diet, that would not matter. He could temporarily delay economic pain, but the rest of the world now understands that he must go ahead without America.

If, tomorrow, Donald Trump has abandoned his quest to annex Greenland and signed up for the defense of Ukraine and the perpetuation of NATO, that would not matter. The free world now understands that its long -term security plans must be made with understanding that America is a potential adversary, not an ally.

This achievement can be painful for Americans. But we should know that the rest of the world we understand more clearly that we understand each other.

Vladimir Putin has bet his life that American voters would be weak and decadent enough to bring Donald Trump back to the presidency. He was right.

Europeans advance with their own security plans because they realize, as A French minister said it“We cannot leave Europe’s safety in the hands of Wisconsin voters every four years.” He was right.

The Canadian Prime Minister said the age of American leaders. He was right.

Instead of arguing with this reality, or denying it, we have to face it.

It’s quite serious to be a failing empire. Let’s not be also a delirious Faulty empire. We have at least a certain dignity on our situation.

The world will move on without us.

Economically, this means that international trade will reorganize without the United States as a central center. Relations will be forged without concern about our preferences. The dollar may well be moved as a global reserve currency. American innovation will leave for other coasts, because the best and most brilliant chooses to make life in countries where The rule of law is solid, Secret police disappear people from the streets, And the government does not discourage And make the economic war against universities.

There is a reason why countries like Belarus and Salvador are not technological centers.

All this will mean slower growth at home and down economic mobility. The pie will shrink and people will become more desperate to keep their slices.

The trail we are living will be much larger, because we had much more to fall.

In the security space, Europe will be organized outside of us. Europeans will create a separate nuclear umbrella and will probably include Canada, Japan and Australia in their alliance. The “free world” as we understood during all of our lives will no longer include America.

Consequently, America will derive or find itself more closely allied with the authorities of the world. We can get closer to Putin’s Russia or Xi China. We can see that we need it – Russia as a counterweight to democratic Europe and China as a cheap source of manufacture to relieve part of the price pressure on American consumers.

The end of the American era does not mean that everything will become chaos overnight. We are not going to wake up tomorrow to the sound of the war widespread shouting of Mad. We are always a rich country, with the momentum making us move forward. But in a way that will soon be noticeable and possibly undeniable, things will get worse. And facts on America and the world we have taken for granted since the end of the Second World War will not be held true.

We have a deeply stupid – our government of our economically illiterate president to our mad and insane secretary of state, of the independent dilettante billionaire which is destroy American gentle power to the Secretary of Health who distorts vaccines which is drawing as much talent as it can. Of the senior economy advisor who think that comics are good investmentsTo the senators who voted to confirm this hack office, to the representatives who stumble on themselves justifying each new declaration of Maga Inane.

But also, we have the government we deserve.

American age is over. And it ended because the American people were no longer worthy of it.
