The first benchmarks of AMD’s new “non-XT” Radeon RX 9070 appear online as the GPU is tested on Call of Duty Black Ops 6, showing surprising performance.
Although AMD revealed its first batch of RDNA 4 GPUs during the recent CES 2025 keynote, we still haven’t had any information on the performance of these SKUs, which was certainly surprising given that it has always been a tradition at AMD to compare its new offerings with competing counterparts. However, the IGN team managed to benchmark AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GPU at the company’s CES 2025 booth, and thanks to them, we now have some insight into what kind of performance to expect from the new grand card budget audience from AMD.
The GPU was tested on Call of Duty Black Ops 6 via the built-in benchmarking option and according to initial results, the Radeon RX 9070 managed to deliver 99 FPS at 4K Extreme settings without using any upgrade technology. scale, such as FSR 4. With this result, it is safe to conclude that the Radeon RX 9070 is in fierce competition with the GeForce RTX 4080 SKUs of NVIDIA, although it intends to compete with NVIDIA’s “70” class options, so this is certainly a top-tier piece of Team Red.
However, another interesting fact mentioned by IGN is that they saw many visual bugs and artifacts related to ongoing issues with the Intel Arc B580 GPU. This is nothing to worry about since the benchmarking environment likely had unrefined drivers and software support, which is why there were inconsistencies. Judging by the fact that if scaling technology and drivers tuned for RDNA 4 had been used to test the GPU, we would have seen a massive increase in the “99 FPS” figure, but it’s something to be decided later, once the embargo is lifted.
Diving a little into the “rumored” specifications of AMD’s Radeon RX 9070, the GPU is said to offer 16 GB of video memory, with an integrated Navi 48 (4nm) chip. That’s about it for now, as Team Red has managed to keep the details under wraps. AMD will share more information about its RDNA 4 GPUs in the coming days.
