AMD Strix Point: Zen5 with RDNA3.5 now official
AMD is rebranding its new AI processors.
AMD is revamping its naming system just 20 months after introducing a new one, this time for upcoming mobile SKUs dubbed “Strix Point,” featuring the Zen5 architecture.
These Strix Point APUs are configured to integrate Zen5 CPU cores, ARND 3.5 graphics and the latest news from AMD XDNA2 AI accelerator. The XDNA2 is considered the fastest among all known AI processors, including Qualcomm Snapdragon surpassing the Ryzen 8000 Hawk Point. series more than 3 times.
What may surprise many is today’s unveiling of just two Ryzen AI processors.
- AMD Ryzen AI 9 365: 10 cores (4 Zen5 + 6 Zen5c), 34 MB, 5.0 GHz, AMD Radeon 880M
- AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370: 12 cores (4x Zen5 + 8 Zen5c), 36 MB, 5.1 GHz, AMD Radeon 890M
The new series will feature up to 12 Zen5 cores, a combination of Zen5 and the denser Zen5c, as well as up to 16 RDNA3.5 compute units. Additionally, AMD is introducing a new brand for its integrated GPUs, namely the Radeon 880M and 890M.
AMD claims its processors will outperform Intel’s flagship Meteor Lake processor, the Core Ultra 9 185H, by 36% in gaming performance.
The first laptops powered by the Ryzen AI 300 series will be introduced today, with availability expected in the next quarter.
