All The News That’s Fit: Life expectancy, sick leave and feelings about food

Compared to people in other middle- and high-income countries, Americans are dying young — and sometimes unnecessarily — due to insufficient access to health care. A Commonwealth Fund report surveyed all 50 states and concluded:
The best health care was in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Washington, where the average life expectancy is 80 to 81 years. This is still lower than most comparable countries.
The worst health care is in Mississippi and West Virginia, where life expectancies are below 75, lower than Mexico, which has the lowest life expectancies among middle-income countries and raised.
