All of Middle Tennessee placed under Tornado Watch

UPDATE (05/26 at 9:43 p.m.): A tornado watch has been issued for all of Middle Tennessee until 5 a.m. Monday morning. The National Weather Service expects the line of storms to bring damaging wind gusts and tornadoes as they move into the state. The line is expected to maintain intensity as it passes through the state, with destructive gusts the main risk. Wind gusts up to 80 mph, line-embedded tornadoes and large hail are all possible.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Parts of Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, have been ranked at the “moderate” risk level (level 4 of 5) for severe weather Sunday night through Monday morning, with an increased risk of tornadoes according to FOX 17 News Code Red Chief. Meteorologist Katy Morgan. A tornado watch was also issued for all of Middle Tennessee until 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Enhanced risk includes a 10% chance for a tornado within 25 miles of a point with the possibility of the tornado being EF2 or greater. Although only a portion of the Midstate is at increased risk, tornadoes and all forms of severe weather remain possible throughout Middle Tennessee.

Storms Sunday evening are expected to bring wind gusts of 80 mph. Precipitation will continue to impact saturated areas on Sunday during the day. The line of storms is expected to move toward southern Kentucky around 9 p.m. and toward Nashville around midnight.
