Alicia Silverstone will play dear Horowitz again in a new television series followed by the successful 1995 Clueless comedy.
The 48 -year -old actor was put as a star and executive producer of an episodic suite at Peacock. The show will be written and produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, better known for Gossip Girl.
The writer and director of the original film, Amy Heckerling, will also join as an executive producer.
Clueless, vaguely based on Emma by Jane Austen, followed the life of a pampered teenager and his matchmake attempts. The film, which also featured Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy, was a success at the box office and has become an even greater success on domestic video.
The film was followed by a television series bringing a large part of the distribution but to the exclusion of Silverstone. It was also transformed into a stage musical that opened its doors in the West End earlier this year.
“I think people talk about a (continued) all the time since the film has happened,” said Silverstone last year. “It’s been 30 years old?” It’s always a fun conversation. It’s so nice to see how people always love this film. It’s very nice. “
Silverstone entered the star of Batman & Robin and Blast from the past and has more recently appeared in Reptile, The Lodge and Yorgos Lanthimos The Killing of A Sacred Deer. She will find Lanthimos for her next film, Bugonia, with Emma Stone also. She also runs a next Christmas Romcom for Netflix opposite Oliver Hudson.
She resumed her role without any idea of a Super Bowl ad in 2023 for Rakuten.
There had been an attempt to transform Clueless into a series based on the mystery in 2020 which finally stalled.
The details on the direction of the new version remain unknown.
