Alexis Mac Allister in tears after potential final game for Brighton amid Liverpool transfer rumors

Alexis Mac Allister was in tears after what could be his last game for Brighton amid his links with a move to Liverpool.

The Argentine couldn’t contain his full-time emotions at Villa Park on Sunday, which saw Brighton lose 2-1 to Aston Villa.

Having already secured Europa League football, several players have been linked with departures this summer.

Mac Allister is one of them with Liverpool the most enthusiastic suitors while Manchester United and Chelsea are also said to be interested.

Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign a new midfielder to invigorate his squad and Mac Allister ticks all the boxes.

As Mac Allister walked down the tunnel, he cheered the fans outside, who chanted at him.

He had to be consoled by his teammates as he burst into tears before becoming even more emotional in the tunnel. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi embraced the player.

Mac Allister could be joined by Caicedo through the Amex Stadium exit door, with the Italian admitting as much in his post-match interview.

He said after the game: “I think this may be the last game for Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

“It’s just that they can leave, they can play at a higher level.”

Brighton had a sensational season finishing sixth in the Premier League meaning they will be playing in Europe for the first time in their history next term.

Among the key players this year, Mac Allister had his best year as a professional star.

The 24-year-old has scored ten Premier League goals this season and also helped Argentina win the World Cup.

His father, Carlos Mac Allister, has revealed his son could leave Brighton this summer.

“At the moment he is at Brighton,” he said earlier this season.

“It seems to me a very good thing that he came back from the World Cup and that he did not despair of leaving, enjoying success serenely and in peace, in a team that loves him very much.
