
Alex Ovechkin I found Paydirt one last time in a memorable regular season of 2024-25.
In the Washington capital season final against Pittsburgh’s Penguins, Ovechkin folded a capture glove from Alex Nedeljkovic, scoring his 897th career goal. The goal was OVI’s third counting in career against Nedeljkovic.
In what was a game similar to his 895th record goal, Ovechkin took a smooth crossing pass from Dylan Strome before drawing his shot from the top of the left circle. The objective of the power game reduced the advance of the Penguins to 3-2 with 3:04 to play in the second period.
The total of OVI gave him 44 goals in 65 games played this season, 0.68 goals per game – the fifth highest rate in his career. The goal also equaled Ovechkin with Gordie Howe – 44 goals at 40 during the 1968-69 season – for the most goals from a 39 -year -old or more player.
Ovechkin ended up finishing third in the NHL in goals this season despite 17 missing games – most of which were due to a broken leg. Leon Draisaitl, 29, (52 goals), and William Nylander (45 goals), 28 years (45 goals) had more this season.
The goal of the power game scored the 14th of Ovechkin this season and the 326 of his career – extending his advance on second place Dave Andreychuk by 52.
By capitals Pr, Ovechkin has 43 goals in 80 career games against the Penguins – the most among active players and the sixth the most of all time. Twenty-six of these 43 goals came on the road.
The match at the PPG Painting Pittsburgh arena has marked the 73rd career time that Ovechkin played against the longtime rival Sidney Crosby in the last 20 seasons. Crosby scored five minutes in advance for his 33rd goal of the season and the 624th goal of his career.
The 44 goals of Ovechkin this season were a remarkable improvement of 13 Nords compared to its 38 -year season.
