The Great 8 is officially the largest scorer of all time. Alex Ovechkin recorded his 894th career goal on Friday, equaling Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history.

The Great 8 is officially the largest scorer of all time. Alex Ovechkin recorded his 894th career goal on Friday, equaling Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history.
Ovechkin’s second goal on Friday – and his 41st of the season – brought him into an equality with Gretzky, who was present in Capital Onena while the capital welcomed the Chicago Blackhawks.
“I think what’s going on right now is great for hockey, ideal for DC,” said Ovechkin before Friday’s match. “It’s pretty cool.”
Gretzky had been the leader of all NHL times since Gordie Howe’s passage on March 23, 1994.
“I’m so proud of the fact that I’m here tonight,” Gretzky said during the first intermission. “I thought yesterday:” My God, we would do better to get on the plane and get up there because he could get three (goals) tonight. When he marked four minutes, I thought: “Oh my God, we could leave after the first period.” “”
The 39 -year -old Russian superstar came into play on Friday with a sequence of three goals and four goals in its five previous games. Any potential burden that he may have felt with additional attention to the record approach was apparently dismissed.
“The whole hockey match is on his shoulders right now,” said his longtime teammate Tom Wilson. “There are guys like me, his teammates, who feel pressure every night and it is the upper level. So, to be able to manage this and continue to play and direct this team, it’s remarkable.”
The record for marking all time is an appropriate step for Ovechkin, which broke out on the stage with a recruited season of 52 goals in 2005-2006 and has apparently never stopped.
Ovechkin’s first goal on Friday obtained his 40 -goals’ NHL career campaign campaign. He also became the first player in NHL history with at least three seasons of 40 goals after being 35 years old.
During his first night, Ovechkin beat Spencer Knight at 3:52, taking a pass of Dylan Strome behind the net and by locking the slice of the distant post and the back of the goalkeeper.
Ovechkin was the overall choice n ° 1 of the 2004 NHL recovery and is the oldest player in the NHL with a franchise.
His next goal will take him to a single possession at the top of the big book of all NHL time, because he will become the 10th player to hold the distinction and the eighth since Joe Malone took front in 1921.
