Disgraced South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh was arrested in Florida on Thursday for allegedly scamming millions of dollars from the family of his late housekeeper, officials told The Post.

The 53-year-old barred lawyer has been taken into custody on two counts of obtaining property under false pretenses relating to the mysterious 2018 death of his longtime housekeeper Gloria Satterfield, said a spokesperson for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Murdaugh has been accused of collecting millions in insurance – but never giving it to her surviving sons as promised.

He was arrested “when he was released from a drug rehab center in Orlando,” SLED said.

The opioid addict has been around since being released on $ 20,000 bail for trying to get his drug dealer killed in a life insurance scam to raise $ 10 million for his surviving son, Buster .

Gloria Satterfield was found dead in 2018 after tripping over Alex Murdaugh’s dogs.

Murdaugh is being held at Orange County Corrections until an extradition hearing to bring him back to South Carolina, where his family has long been one of the most powerful legal presences.

SLED suggested that more charges could be laid against the once powerful lawyer who is also a person of interest in the double murder of his wife and son in June, his lawyer admitted this week. Agents are also investigating Satterfield’s death as well as millions of dollars from his family’s law firm.

“Today is just one more step in a long process of justice for the many victims of these investigations,” said SLED chief Mark Keel.

Officers “will continue to work tirelessly on behalf of those who have fallen victim to Alex Murdaugh and others,” Keel said.

“We are committed to following the facts wherever they can take us and we will not stop until justice is served. “
