Three and a half years after the fatal shooting on the “rust” at New Mexico, the Western film of Alec Baldwin was finally released.
Baldwin accidentally shot the director of 42-year-old photography in the film, Halyna Hutchins, during the production of the film on October 21, 2021. She died that day, a tragedy that sparked investigations, numerous prosecutions and two criminal trials.
Viewers will be able to broadcast “Rust” for costs of $ 14.99 via Apple, Amazon and other video platforms on demand from late Thursday. The film will play on large screens with Laemmle theaters in Encino and Santa Monica from Friday.
The producers tried to grasp “rust” in the prestigious industry film festivals, but were satisfied with a first in Poland. The largest cinema, AMC and giant in streaming Netflix in the country do not show the film, which is produced by Baldwin, Anjul Nigam and Ryan Dononll Smith, among others.
The film was directed by Joel Souza, who was injured in the shooting. He was held a few centimeters from Hutchins when the Baldwin pistol fired during a scene race. The ball has housed in Souza’s shoulder.
Baldwin-which was authorized in July of an indivisite homicide accusation deposited by the prosecutors of the New Mexico-plays a raw out of law, Harland Rust. The character survives a ball injury when he tries to help his 13-year-old grandson, Lucas, played by Patrick Scott McDermott, flee to Mexico after the boy accidentally killed a breeder. The film takes place in the 1880s.
After Hutchins’ death near Santa Fe, NM, the film closed production.
Santa Fe County Sheriff deputies and the professional security agents of New Mexico took care of the Bonanza Creek ranch, the original location of the film, to investigate the shooting. The sheriff’s investigation lasted more than a year, and three people were finally criminally charged: Baldwin, armor Hannah Gutierrez and deputy director David Halls, who was in charge of security on the set.
Three days after the Baldwin trial in July, the state judge rejected all the charges after concluding a fault by a special prosecutor and detectives. The group was accused of having hidden potential evidence from the Baldwin defense team.
Earlier this year, Baldwin brought a malicious civil action against new-mexic.

In March 2024, the first film gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez, was found guilty of manslaughter. She served almost 14 months in prison and is expected to be released later this month, according to her lawyer Jason Bowles.
Halls did not argue any competition with a single count of use by negligence of a deadly weapon. He testified during the Gutierrez trial on the persistent trauma and said that he had since left the film industry.
The filmmakers said they wanted to finish the film in tribute to Hutchins and its artistic talent.
Insurance regulations have also demanded that the film be distributed, according to people close to production. The product will help finance the regulations for an unjustified death trial brought by Hutchins’s husband, Matthew, who has become an executive producer of the film, and their son.
The Hutchins family in Ukraine has separately filed an unjustified death.
The director of photography Bianca Cline took office as director of photography when production resumed in Montana about 18 months after the death of Hutchins.
There have also been major casting changes. The actors Jensen Ackles and Swen Temmel were not part of the finished production.
Baldwin co-stars include Josh Hopkins, Travis Fimmel and Frances Fisher.
The initial decor of the film was the Rural Kansas, before the characters spawned a path through the southwest of the High Desert. But with its rugged mountain backdrop, the film is now starting in Wyoming Frontier.
The shooting of the New Mexico was disturbed before the accident.
Camera crew members left at night before shooting after alerting line producers on security problems, including accidental firearms and the lack of housing nearby. The members of the camera team previously declared to the Times that they supposed that the producers interrupted production for the day to respond to their concerns.
Instead, producers have advanced with limited cameras staff. The crew was delayed that day, and there was no media village where Souza and Hutchins would have normally directed scenes by watching monitors.
Hutchins wanted to get a camera angle from Baldwin, sitting on a bench inside a dusty wood church, for a dramatic moment in the film. He slowly pulled his propeller pistol from his case and pointed him on the camera.
“You are thinking of the chain of events that started that morning. A bad decision after a bad decision was made,” Souza told the Guardian newspaper in a recent interview. “… I hope that I have never written the fucking film.”
Falling Forward Films managed theatrical distribution, while the Ascendant media group is responsible for video races on demand. The film lasts 2 hours, 13 minutes.
The friends of Hutchins also made a documentary, “Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna”, which broadcasts on Hulu.
Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, are currently playing in a TLC program on their hectic life with their seven children.
