Alan Shearer mocks Sunderland and Gary Lineker as he celebrates Newcastle’s Champions League arrival
Alan Shearer couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Sunderland and friend Gary Lineker as Newcastle secured their Champions League spot next season.
The Magpies earned a 0-0 draw against Leicester which was enough to secure a top four place with one game to spare.

As a result, Eddie Howe’s side will be playing in Europe’s biggest competition for the first time in 20 years.
It’s a wonderful time for Newcastle supporters at the moment and one man enjoying success is club legend Shearer.
The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer started his evening by mocking his Match Of The Day colleague Gary Lineker.
Lineker is famously a Leicester City fan and Shearer couldn’t help but poke fun at their ultra-defensive play, tweeting: “How you feeling Gary Lineker? Were you excited when your team crossed the halfway line?!”
As the full-time whistle sounded at St James’ Park, Shearer went into celebration mode as he returned to social media.
His first tweet simply read: “Champions League anyone”, which included an emoji and a series of hands and hearts clapping.

However, Shearer then found time to poke fun at Newcastle rivals Sunderland
Later that evening he was on Twitter again with a cheeky message for arch-rivals Newcastle, saying: “Have you ever seen a Mackem in Milan?”
There’s no doubt that Shearer will celebrate the festivities tonight and based on his social media antics, he’ll be delighted to get the chance to see his team in Europe next season.
