Alan Hamel goes out with Joanna Cassidy – the old co -star of his late wife, Suzanne Somers – he says exclusively on page Six.
“I don’t know where this relationship is going,” he said about her appointment with the actress “extremely accomplished”.
Hamel, 88, was photographed his arm with Cassidy, 79 years old – that he tells us that he has been known for decades – in Malibu, California on Monday.
They wore baseball caps with Malibu Beach Inn while they were having lunch at Broad Street Oyster Company.
“I have known Joanna Cassidy for over 45 years,” said Canadian film producer when we contacted comments. “Joanna was a guest star of (Daytime Talk Show) ‘The Alan Hamel Show’ in Canada in the 1970s. She was a big guest and it was a dynamic show, and we loved ourselves, not romantically, but mainly with respect. We were both married at the time.”
He says that the duo retired again when Cassidy and Somers played together in the 1985 mini-series “Hollywood Wives”.
“I met her in the mid-1980s on several occasions during the production of” Hollywood Wives “by Jackie Collins,” he recalls. “It was very cordial.”
As for how the pair reconnected, Hamel explains that his son, Stephen, played a matchmaker.
“My son met Joanna during a screening and after a long conversation suggested to Joanna that she and I got along and should meet us. Stephen did not know that we knew each other. ”
Hamel knows that he has the blessing of Somers – who deceased from cancer in October 2023One day before her 77th birthday – because in her last days she exhorted her to move on of her.
“Do not tap,” he recalls that she had told him. “Live your life. We will see ourselves after crossing. ”
Although Hamel does not know where his romance will go to Cassidy, there is nothing more than praise for the old model.
“Joanna is extremely accomplished,” he spoke. “She is easily the most hardworking and active actress in Hollywood for over 50 years. She is a great mother for her adult children, presents herself for many fundraising for the first stakeholders and is the staff of her four cats. She is not Hollywood BS, and we laugh a lot. ”
The former television host says of his current relationship: “I am lucky to have Joanna in my life. Most men would like to have a Joanna in their lives.
