Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver the keynote address at UC San Diego, an event expected to draw 10,000 people to RIMAC Field on June 15.
The choice reflects the university’s research on climate change, which is also the central focus of Gore’s professional life.

Gore served as President Bill Clinton’s vice president for two terms, during which time he helped elevate climate change to a major environmental issue. He also wrote and played the central role in “An Inconveniet Truth,” a 2006 documentary that explores the potential effects of global warming.
