Akuma Just Launched in Street Fighter 6 and Fans Have Already Discovered Two Cool Secrets

Akuma has been in Street Fighter 6 for less than a day, but fans have already discovered two secret super moves he can use. The trap ? You can only use them after his secret taunt – the one that involves Akuma sitting on the ground, chewing a ball of rice for 30 seconds.

Most characters only have three super moves, but Akuma has a huge one. Seven, although this includes the two hidden ones that are not included in the moves list. Despite this secrecy, various fans on social media quickly discovered both the hidden taunts and the supers that accompanied them, which IGN independently verified.

As mentioned, it all starts with the secret taunt. To achieve this, perform the Akuma Taunt by holding and pressing all six buttons, then mash all of these buttons. This will lead to a taunt that sees Akuma eating a rice ball, and once he’s finished his snack you can perform both hidden supers, which you can see below (along with some helpful instructions from my colleague Mitchell Saltzman ):

The first is done by making two quarter circles backwards and pressing on the kick. This one is actually a callback to Kage’s V-Trigger 1 in Street Fighter 5, Rikudo Osatsu. The other is performed by pressing down, down, and all three punch buttons, and it’s basically his super move from Street Fighter 5.

But that’s not all ! In this state, he can also unleash his classic dual-air fireballs by performing a quarter circle back and two punches while jumping forward in the air, and it doesn’t even cost a meter.

Although, as fans were quick to point out, the moves aren’t great viable when it comes to competitive play, as the taunt literally leaves the warrior sitting with their back to their opponent for 30 seconds. Still, it’s a fun Easter egg – and, as popular fighting game streamer Maximilian Dood notes, it gives Akuma players a way to open Evo matches in the most fun way possible.

As mentioned, Akuma entered the Street Fighter 6 fray in an update just earlier today, leading to renewed interest in the fighting game. According to SteamDB, there were 70,000 players on Steam earlier today, a huge jump from the 5,000 to 25,000 players who were playing in the days leading up to the update. Akuma is a bit of a classic boss in the Street Fighter series, having been introduced since Street Fighter II, so it’s no surprise that fans are excited about his addition.

IGN gave Street Fighter 6 a 9/10 a year ago, and Saltzman wrote at the time: “Street Fighter 6 is the most feature-rich Street Fighter has ever been at launch, but even Beyond that, its roster of 18 characters is excellent, the new mechanics revitalize the one-on-one combat formula, and nail all the little things that make a stellar fighting game.
