Airbnb claims that users will now be able to book luxury services such as personal coaches, massages and chiefs on its redesigned application while it continues to extend beyond its main short-term rental business.
“People choose hotels for their services. People choose Airbnbs for space … Now we are giving you the best of both worlds,” said the director general of the company, Brian Chesky, in a statement.
This comes only a few weeks after the company reported that reservations could slow down to the United States, as President Trump’s unpredictable trade policies have reached consumers’ feeling.
Despite the accommodation of more than two billion guests since its launch in 2008, Airbnb has also faced challenges in recent years, certain cities moving to ban rentals.
The new Airbnb services will initially be available in 260 cities, the company saying that it will cost in less than $ 50 (£ 37.57).
Luxury offers, which include spa treatments, photographers and make -up artists, can also be reserved by people who do not stay in Airbnbs.
The reworked application of the company also includes an updated experiences tab, allowing users to book tailor -made visits and activities. This service was launched for the first time in 2016.
The new hotel -type characteristics reflect the changing tourist needs, said Gary Bowerman, director of the travel marketing company, record Asia Asia at the BBC.
“Travelers are now thinking a lot about how to personalize the journey for themselves, not only on the real functional parts of the way they get there and where they stay.”
Another feature of the new application is an original tab, which offers exclusive experiences around the world.
This includes playing beach volleyball at Rio de Janeiro with Olympian Carol Solberg or spending a Sunday with the Superstar of the National Football League Patrick Mahomes.
Custom options like this are part of a broader trend while tourists are looking for path experiences outside the batts, said Anastasia Oriordan, a luxury trip consultant.
“There are so many people who have traveled and do so much that the reference or the goal for unique experiences is constantly moving.”
