One of the first white South African refugees to arrive in the United States seems to have made anti-Semitic comments on social networks-reasons that the Trump administration has tried to use to expel pro-Palestinian activists born abroad and refuse immigration requests.
The refugee, Charl Kleinhaus, 46, said on Wednesday in a statement that he was not an anti -Semitic person. He described a social media error and said that others that he shared had been written by others.
Mr. Kleinhaus de Limpopo, South Africa, landed in Washington on an chartered jet on Monday with dozens of other Afrikaners, a white ethnic minority that reigned during apartheid. The United States has given refuge in the United States by an administration that has enabled another group to become refugees, including Afghans who helped US forces in their country.
“We just excited our bags and left,” Kleinhaus said after landing, adding that he had left South Africa for security reasons.
White South Africans say they were victims of discrimination, including the refusal of employment opportunities and racial violence, although the details of refugees are not clear. Mr. Kleinhaus and his family traveled from Washington to Buffalo, NY
In April 2023, the user X @Charlkleinhaus wrote in an article now deleted that the Jews were “unworthy of confidence” and “a dangerous group” and that “they are not the gods chosen”.
