AFL identities with a broken heart and football fans pay tribute to the legend of the eagles of the west coast Adam Selwood – “linked to all those with whom it was involved”

A number of BRISED AFL identities and fans paid tribute to Adam Selwood, suddenly died Saturday at only 41 years old.

The father of two children played for the west coast of his entire professional football career, with the culmination of a minister in 2006.

Once he has retired, Selwood began to lead to Eagles, play a development role and become the inaugural chief of women’s football while the club launched its historic AFLW program.

His death rocked the AFL world – and occurred tragically after Selwood’s twin brother Troy also died in February.

John Worsfold – Selwood coach when the Eagles won the AFL’s grand finale against Swans – were incredulous when he heard the sad news.

“Adam was a great teammate who loved the club, loved his football,” he said.

“We drafted him at 18 and watched him grow as a player and person. We have known the Selwood family so well over the years, and they are so wonderful people to whom our hearts go more than anything.

“As a player, Adam was the final man of the team. He played whatever the necessary role.

“He gave it 100% and connected to all those with whom he was involved.

“He had a massive impact on our football club.

Geelong, where Adam’s decorated brother Joel played and won four Prime Ministers, extended his “biggest condolences” on Saturday.

“The Geelong Football Club is deeply saddened to learn the death of Adam Selwood,” the statement said.

“We present our deepest condolences to his wife Fiona, children Lenny and Billie, the Joel and Scott brothers and the parents Maree and Bryce, our thoughts are with you right now.

Geelong first striker, Cam Mooney, who played alongside Joel Selwood during his stay at the Cats, was about to cry on Fox Footy after development.
