Jennifer Love Hewitt looks back on comments of “blowing of mind” that she received after her return from stars I know what you did last summer.
Hewitt was 16 years old when she filmed the Hit Slasher in 1997, but the success of the project did not prepare her for the reactions she received from adults while promoting the film.
The 45 -year -old man appeared on the Mayim Bialik podcast The ventilation of Mayim Bialik This week she discussed her experience.
“When I know what you did last summer Released, everyone said, “Oh, I know what your breasts did last summer,” she recalls. “There were adult men who spoke to me at 16 of my breasts openly in a talk show – and people laughed at it. It was a fully accepted culture. But when you sit down and look where we are now against it, it’s really breathtaking. »»
Hewitt said that she had actually forgotten the comments until about ten years ago when she returned and looked at images. “I didn’t remember it,” she said. “I really didn’t take this part. But with hindsight, it was very strange to become a sexual symbol for people before even knowing what it was. I did not know what meant to be “sexy” meant, and I was on the cover of Maxim review. People would go and said to themselves: “Oh, I took your magazine with me on a trip last week”, and I didn’t really know what it meant. It’s a bit disgusting.
Hewitt added that the comments did not really touch her and credited her mother for sheltered her from the party’s lifestyle.
“At the time, it was very innocent and exciting and fun,” she said. “So I’m grateful for that, because I think if I had tried to take part of this earlier, I think it would have spoiled with me, but that was not the case, for a reason any. It may be because my mother was still there to keep reality very obvious to me. I would go to a first, and people would like me to do things (after), and I should go home and clean my room.
Hewitt also said that his mother had held him grateful for the occasion offered by the film.
“I remember thinking it was really cool that the girls admired me, and I took this very seriously,” she said. “It was the part I removed at the time. I felt a real responsibility to carry myself in a way that had the impression of gaining the right to be someone’s model. I remember having a really interesting conversation with my mother where (she said) that there were probably 50,000 other girls in the world who did not have the opportunity that I did and that I had to m ‘Occupy. »»
Hewitt is about to revisit his character from I know what you did last summer in the restart of this year, also entitled I know what you did last summerFrom director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The film was released on July 18.
