The private gains on the pay was stronger than expected in March, thwarting that the labor market and the economy slow down, according to a report Wednesday of ADP.

Companies have added 155,000 jobs for the month, a sharp increase compared to the 84,000 revised upwards in February and better than Dow Jones consensus forecasts for 120,000, the payroll processing company said.

The upward surprise comes in the middle of the concerns that President Donald Trump’s aggressive prices could dissuade companies from adding to the workforce and in turn slowly commercial activities and consumers. Trump is expected to announce the next step in his trade policy on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The hiring was quite wide, professional and commercial services adding 57,000 workers while financial activities increased by 38,000 while the tax season heats up. Manufacturing contributed 21,000 and leisure and hospitality added 17,000.

Service providers were responsible for 132,000 of the posts. Lowering, trade, transport and public services have seen a loss of 6,000 jobs and natural resources and mining decreased by 3,000.

On the salary side, profits increased by 4.6% from one year to the next for those who stay in their posts and 6.5% for job changers. The gap between the two corresponded to a final stroke in September, suggesting a level of mobility lower than workers who wish to change work.

However, global figures indicate a solid labor market. Recent data of the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that the open position is now almost even with available workers, reversing a trend in which the openings were more numerous than the unemployed from 2 to 1 a few years ago.

The ADP report becomes forward on the BLS measurement more closely looked at non -agricultural payrolls. The BLS report, which, unlike the ADP, includes government jobs, should display payroll growth of 140,000 in March, slightly down compared to 151,000 in February. The two charges sometimes have substantial disparities due to different methodologies.
