“Adolescence” should be made available to all secondary schools in the United Kingdom in an initiative from the support of the British government.
The drama Smash Hit Netflix – which has already caused a general debate to tackle the subjects of crime on the knife, toxic masculinity and the danger of online content on children – will now be made available alongside guides and resources for teachers, parents and caregivers to help them sail in the conversations that are raised.
The announcement follows a round table organized by Prime Minister Keir Starmer alongside representatives of charitable organizations such as Tender, the NSPCC and the children’s company, as well as the co-creator of “adolescence” Jack Thorne and producers Emily Feller and Jo Johnson. Thorne had already pleaded for the show to be shown in schools.
“As a father, watching this program with my teenage son and daughter, I can tell you – it hit hard at home,” said Starmer. “This is an important initiative to encourage as many students as possible to watch the show. As I have seen since my own children, speak openly about changes in the way they communicate, the content they see and the exploration of the conversations they have with their peers is vital if we want to support them correctly in navigation on contemporary challenges and malignant influences.
A drama in four parts that has grasped a large part of the world, “adolescence” tells the heartbreaking story of a British family whose world is upset when their normal 13 -year -old son is arrested for the murder of a girl in his class.
“This is not a challenge for politicians can simply legislate,” added Starmer. “Believe me, if I could pull a lever to solve it, I would. It is only by listening and learning of the experiences of young people and charities that we can tackle the problems that this revolutionary spectacle raises. ”
Netflix will provide “adolescence” available to all secondary schools in the United Kingdom via the film +streaming service. Healthy relationships will produce guides and resources.

So having the opportunity to take this in schools is beyond our expectations. We hope that it will lead to talking to teachers, but what we really hope that it will train me to talk to each other.
Produced by Warp Films, Matriarch Productions and Plan B Entertainment, “adolescence” continues to break records. Having reached the number one in 80 countries around the world, it has become the first streaming program at the head of the television ratings in the United Kingdom and – with 66.3 million views after two weeks – has set a new Netflix record for a limited series.
