Five minors died on Monday and four were injured in an accident in a coal mine in the Northern Spanish region of Asturias, regional emergency services said.
Two other workers were unharmed.
Emergency services indicated that a machine was working poor inside the mine in Degana at 9:32 am (0732 GMT). Three helicopters and two ambulances were sent to the scene.
Regional chief Adrian Barbon declared two days of mourning and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his condolences to relatives of the victims on the social messaging platform X.
