ABC News veteran correspondent Terry Moran was suspended Sunday after having published a very critical assessment of President Donald Trump and Trump’s assistant chief of staff, Stephen Miller, on the social media platform.
In the Missive, which was displayed shortly after midnight, Moran said that Trump and Miller were “world class hates”. For Trump, he said, hatred is “only one way for an end, and this end is its own glorification. It is his spiritual food ”.
For Miller, on the other hand, “hatred is his spiritual food”, instructed Moran. “He eats his hatred.”
Moran – who won a rare oval interview with Trump in April – then deleted the tweet and did nothing more.
Sunday morning, officials of the Trump administration condemned Moran and said that the position was poorly reflected in ABC News as an institution. The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has publicly prompted ABC to discipline Moran.
“We contacted ABC to find out about how they plan to keep Terry responsible,” she wrote on X.
“I hope this journalist will be suspended or terminated,” Leavitt said in an interview on “Sunday Morning Futures” on Fox News.
As for ABC, “they said they will take measures,” she added, referring apparently to a private conversation.
About an hour later, the Division of News said that Moran, its main national correspondent and former anchor “Nightline”, had been suspended.
“ABC News represents objectivity and impartiality in its media coverage and does not tolerate subjective personal attacks against others,” said a spokesperson in response to CNN’s survey on Moran. “The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards – as a result, Terry Moran was suspended while awaiting a more in -depth assessment.”
Miller, often described as the architect of Trump’s immigration policies, is the subject of frequent and ferocious criticism, including the “hater” label that Moran applied. A 2020 book entitled “Hatemonger” has documented Miller’s long -standing ties with far -right groups that demonize immigrants.
But it is very unusual for a network correspondent like Moran to publish such a politically loaded comment, especially in the middle of the night on a free social media site for all.
Miller reacted to the Moran post saying that “the most important fact about the complete public collapse of Terry is what he shows about the corporate press in America”.
“For decades, the anchors and privileged journalists telling and guardian of our company adopted radicals adopting the installation of a journalist. Terry succeeded in his mask,” wrote Miller on X.
Vice-president JD Vance also published a defense of Miller on X, declaring that Miller is “motivated by the love of the country” and that Abc “should apologize”.
