Aaron Rodgers is not in a hurry to make a decision on his future.
The quarter of a free agent said Thursday during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he “does not hold anyone hostage” when he weighs if it is necessary to return for a 21st season.
Rodgers was published by New York Jets In March. The 41 -year -old NFL MVP quadruple NFL visited the Pittsburgh Steelers and discussed with the Vikings of Minnesota in recent weeks, but said there were certain things in his personal life that currently have priority about everything about football.
“I have a few people in my inner circle that fight against difficult things,” said Rodgers. “I have a lot that attracts my attention and have, from January, far from football.”
Rodgers added that engaging in a team is a “great thing” and said he would only do it when he is ready to be all. He reduced rumors that he had a multi -year contract or a big salary, saying that $ 10 million for a season would be enough to sign it.
“I told each of the teams I spoke (that) it was not money,” said Rodgers.
Steelers currently have a lot of hood space and a lot of space on the list of rodgers. Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson are the only two quarters currently in contact. Rodgers tried to surreptitiously visit Pittsburgh’s installations last month, flying at a regional airport and renting a Malibu chevy in an effort so as not to draw attention to itself.
Rodgers said it was important to meet the Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and the managing director Omar Khan and have an idea of the city. He left without agreement, although everyone from Tomlin to the president of the Art Rooney II team indicated that the meeting was productive. Rodgers also has relations with Pittsburgh’s attacking coordinator, Arthur Smith, and the quarter of the quarter Tom Arth, who worked alongside Rodgers in Green Bay during the 2006 offseason.
While Pittsburgh feels like the most natural adjustment for Rodgers – which also worked with the wide receiver of the Steelers recently acquired DK Metcalf – he also declared that retirement “could always be a possibility” and that it does not seem to be in a sort of rush even with the recovery of NFL next week.
“During all this time, I did not have the impression of having a decision at any time,” he said. “(I told them) if you need to move on, need to do something, by all means, nothing other than love and respect if it is a decision to make.”
Rodgers was also in contact with Minnesota coach Kevin O’Connell, and spoke to the New York giant coach Brian Daboll, who, according to Rodgers, has a “beautiful football spirit”.
Rodgers said he had kept the open communication channels, but favors his personal life for the moment.
“I don’t think it’s just for the Steelers or for anyone to make a decision while I take a lot from the field,” he said.
