Aaron Rodgers talked about what his future could hold on Thursday because he revealed that NFL’s retirement remains a possibility when he assesses his next step.
Rodgers, which was released by the New York Jets last month, appeared on Thursday on “The Pat McAfee Show” where he discussed his state of mind as a current free agent.
“I am open to anything and I am not attached to anything,” said Rodgers during his first appearance in the public media since January.
The winner of the 41 -year -old Super Bowl XLV, was strongly linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, this off -season, but no official decision has yet been made.
Rodgers said he had several frank discussions with the team and his head coach Mike Tomlin during the offseason. In March, he participated in a launch session with the new Receiver of the Steelers DK Metcalf, further fueling rumors of a move in the city of Steel.
The NFL MVP quadruple MVP told McAfee that he was taking his time to assess his options due to “personal questions”, while revealing that he is now in a “serious relationship”.
“I have a few people in my inner circle that fights against difficult things. So I have a lot that has attracted my attention and have had it since the beginning of January football,” said Rodgers while Dolphin watches in California.
“This is where I concentrated most of my attention.
Rodgers also quickly refused rumors that he held a major contract on all potential contenders.
The veteran quarterrier said he had “held no one hostage” during the negotiations and is waiting for the right time and the right agreement to make the decision that suits him best.
“I was immediately with these teams from the start I was,” he told McAfee. “Starting with the money thing, I told each of the teams that I was talking about what it was not money. I will play for ($ 10 million per season). I don’t care.
“I never said once I needed a multi -year transaction or 30 or 40 million dollars, real bullshit. I said, I will play for 10.”
He added: “All this time, I did not have the impression of having a kind of decision at any time. It’s my life. I said things were different now. My personal life is different. I have things in the inner circle, which I am intimately close, it is really important to me.
Rodgers also revealed that he had discussions with the New York Giants and the Vikings of Minnesota about the potentially empty of these teams.
But while he weighs if he had to come back for what would be a 21st season in the NFL, Rodgers was honest to perhaps suspend his crampons after a vegetable career.
“Retirement could always be a possibility, but right now, my goal is and has been and will continue to be on my personal life,” said Rodgers. “And that’s what I told coaches that there are still conversations that have had them and that all of this was very honest of communication.”
