Denise Richards’ ex-husband, Aaron Phypers, has been arrested in a Los Angeles court.
Phypers was handcuffed in the courtroom on Friday, October 17 on domestic violence charges, according to Fox News Digital.
The former couple were in court last week for a hearing to get Richards a restraining order against Phypers.
According to People Magazine, a criminal complaint was filed Wednesday at the Van Nuys courthouse. Phypers faces criminal charges, including two counts of injuring a spouse, common-law partner, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or parent of a child; and two counts of dissuading a witness by force or threat. Three of the alleged incidents took place on January 17, 2022 and one on May 3, 2022, according to documents obtained by People.
Phypers filed for divorce in July and Richards was granted a temporary restraining order at the time after allegations of physical and emotional abuse during their marriage, including an alleged violent incident that occurred around the time he filed for divorce.
At the hearing earlier this month, Richards said her estranged husband “gave me at least three concussions” during their marriage, according to People Magazine.
She also claimed he tried to destroy her reputation after their breakup by stealing her laptop and leaking sensitive information and nude photos of her, according to Fox News Digital.
In a statement to People magazine, Phypers denied Richards’ allegations, saying, “I absolutely deny the false allegations that I violated the restraining order or stole Denise’s laptop or cell phones. These claims are not only false, they are being used as a weapon to damage my reputation and distract from the truth.”
